The Scheppach MS180-51 petrol lawn mower is designed for efficient maintenance of medium to large lawns and gardens. With its 51 cm cutting width and self-propelled drive system, it allows you to mow quickly while reducing the effort required to move the machine. Like any petrol lawn mower used regularly, however, it contains many mechanical components and wear parts that may need to be replaced over time.

A damaged blade, worn drive belt, stretched drive cable, damaged wheel or faulty engine component does not necessarily mean that the entire lawn mower needs to be replaced. Targeted replacement of the affected component can often restore the machine to proper working condition and significantly extend its service life.

In this category, you will find our selection of replacement parts for the Scheppach MS180-51 lawn mower: blade, drive belt, wheels, drive cable, throttle cable, recoil starter, ignition coil, carburettor gaskets, fuel hose, belt guard, drive components and other parts suitable for this lawn mower.

These parts allow you to work on the cutting system, self-propelled drive, wheels, engine, ignition, starting system, controls and grass collection system.

510 mm blade for Scheppach MS180-51 lawn mower

With its 51 cm cutting width, the MS180-51 uses a 510 mm lawn mower blade designed for its cutting system.

The blade is naturally one of the parts most exposed to wear. Over time, it can lose its cutting edge and produce a less clean cut. It can also be damaged after hitting a stone, root, branch or object hidden in the lawn.

A worn or damaged blade can cause:

  • Uneven cutting.

  • Tearing of the grass.

  • Poor lawn finish.

  • Unusual vibrations.

  • Excessive stress on cutting system components.

It is therefore advisable to check the blade regularly and replace it when it shows significant wear or deformation.

737Li drive belt and self-propelled system

The Scheppach MS180-51 is equipped with a self-propelled drive system that makes it easier to move the lawn mower. Several components work together to transmit power to the wheels.

These parts include:

  • The 737Li drive belt.

  • Belt guard.

  • Tension spring.

  • Drive bar.

  • Drive cable.

  • Wheels and related components.

Over time, a drive belt may stretch, become loose, crack or wear along the sides. It may then begin to slip and transmit power less efficiently.

If the engine operates correctly but the lawn mower moves forward with difficulty or no longer drives itself properly, it is preferable to inspect the complete mechanism before replacing any one part.

Drive cable for MS180-51

The drive cable transmits the control movement from the handlebar to the self-propelled mechanism.

For certain versions of the Scheppach MS180-51, a 1190 mm drive cable is used.

Over time, a Bowden cable may:

  • Stretch.

  • Become loose.

  • Seize inside its casing.

  • Fray.

  • Break.

  • Develop damage to the outer sheath.

A worn or incorrectly adjusted cable can prevent the drive system from engaging properly even if the drive belt and other transmission components are still in good condition.

Throttle cable and controls

The Bowden throttle cable connects the handlebar control to the corresponding engine mechanism. A 1270 mm version is used on certain MS180-51 lawn mowers.

Like the drive cable, it is subjected to repeated movement and may gradually wear out.

Cables and controls should remain flexible and operate without sticking. If a cable becomes frayed, seized or excessively stretched, replacement may be necessary.

The lower handlebar, levers and various fixing components can also be replaced if they become bent or damaged.

Front and rear wheels for Scheppach MS180-51

The wheels support the weight of the lawn mower and are constantly subjected to wear on ground that may be uneven.

Depending on the version, the MS180-51 may use:

  • A front wheel approximately 175 x 50 mm.

  • A rear wheel approximately 250 x 61.5 mm, with a bore suitable for its mounting system.

A wheel should be inspected if it shows:

  • Significant tread wear.

  • Excessive play.

  • Damaged fixing points.

  • Difficulty rotating.

  • Cracking or deformation.

On a self-propelled lawn mower, the rear wheels and drive-related components deserve particular attention.

Recoil starter and starting system

The recoil starter is used every time the lawn mower is started. Its rope, return spring and internal mechanism are therefore naturally subject to wear.

A recoil starter problem may show up as:

  • A broken starter rope.

  • A rope that no longer retracts.

  • A mechanism that spins without engaging.

  • A starter that no longer turns the engine correctly.

  • A blocked starting mechanism.

However, if the recoil starter turns the engine normally but the engine does not start, the cause should be looked for elsewhere, such as in the ignition system, carburettor or fuel supply.

Ignition coil and carburettor parts

The ignition coil helps generate the spark required for engine operation. If there is no proper ignition spark, the coil may be one of the components that needs to be checked.

The carburettor gaskets help maintain proper sealing of the intake system. Ageing or damaged gaskets can cause air leaks and affect engine operation.

Before replacing these components, it is preferable to confirm the exact cause of the fault with an appropriate diagnosis.

Fuel hose for later production series

Certain MS180-51 versions use a fuel hose Ø 6 / Ø 3 x 45 mm, particularly machines manufactured from 07/2021 onwards.

Fuel hoses age due to contact with petrol and temperature variations. Over time, they may harden, crack or lose their seal.

A leaking or damaged hose should be replaced promptly. Any work on the fuel system must be carried out with the engine switched off and cold.

Grass collector bag and body parts

The grass collector bag can also wear out over time. Friction, the weight of wet grass and repeated handling can damage the fabric.

If the collector frame is still in good condition, replacing only the bag avoids unnecessarily replacing the complete assembly.

Other bodywork and protective parts may also be replaced, including the deflector, housing or belt guard if they have been damaged.

Check the exact version of your Scheppach MS180-51

As with many Scheppach lawn mower models, some parts may vary depending on the production period.

Before ordering any component, we recommend checking:

  • Exact machine model.

  • Month of manufacture.

  • Year of manufacture.

  • Serial number.

  • Part number shown on the exploded parts diagram.

  • Part number of the old component when still readable.

  • List of compatible machines shown on the product page.

This precaution is particularly important for drive belts, wheels, cables, recoil starters, engine parts, drive components and fuel system parts.

Two parts that look visually similar may have different dimensions or technical specifications.

Regular maintenance of your MS180-51 lawn mower

Regular maintenance helps maintain good cutting performance and reduces the risk of breakdowns during the mowing season.

It is particularly advisable to:

  • Clean the cutting deck regularly.

  • Remove accumulated grass.

  • Check the condition and tightness of the blade.

  • Inspect the drive belt and belt guard.

  • Check the operation of the self-propelled drive.

  • Inspect the drive and throttle cables.

  • Check the wheels and their fixings.

  • Regularly inspect the ignition system.

  • Monitor the condition of the fuel hoses.

  • Check the engine oil level.

  • Clean and inspect the grass collector.

  • Replace heavily worn or damaged parts promptly.

Preventive maintenance also helps identify small problems before they cause damage to other components.

Repair your Scheppach MS180-51 with the correct parts

A worn drive belt, damaged wheel, broken cable, damaged blade or starting problem does not necessarily mean that the lawn mower must be replaced.

Targeted replacement of the faulty part can extend the service life of your Scheppach MS180-51 while keeping the machine efficient for garden maintenance.
