Main function

The valve plate for various Scheppach compressors is designed to regulate airflow within the compressor head through the intake and discharge valves.

It allows air to enter the cylinder during the intake stroke, then be compressed and delivered to the tank during the discharge stroke, while preventing it from flowing back in the opposite direction.

A valve plate in good condition helps ensure efficient compression, proper pressure build-up in the tank and good compressor performance, while reducing air losses and unnecessary strain on the motor.

When should the valve plate be replaced?

The valve plate for various Scheppach compressors may need to be replaced in the following cases:

• Compressor no longer builds up pressure correctly

• Abnormally long tank filling time

• Reduced airflow despite the motor operating normally

• Broken, cracked or deformed intake or discharge valves

• Cracked or damaged valve plate

• Air leaks around the compressor head

• Abnormal backflow of air into the intake system

• Wear or damage detected when dismantling the cylinder head

Before replacing the valve plate, it is also recommended to check the condition of the cylinder head gaskets, piston, piston rings and non-return valve, as these components can cause similar symptoms.

A defective valve plate must be replaced when it can no longer ensure proper air intake and discharge, in order to restore efficient compression and normal pressure build-up in the tank.

Important: Before carrying out any work, disconnect the compressor from the power supply and completely release the pressure from the tank.
