JET JBOS-5 oscillating spindle sander for sanding curves and edges

The JET JBOS-5 is an oscillating spindle sander designed for working with wood and wood-based materials. It is particularly suitable for sanding curves, edges, rounded profiles, internal cut-outs and shaped workpieces, where conventional sanding machines can quickly reach their limits.

Thanks to its different sanding spindles and the oscillating movement of the sanding sleeve, the JBOS-5 is a particularly useful machine for finishing work in woodworking and joinery workshops.

Rotating and oscillating action for even sanding

The main feature of the JET JBOS-5 oscillating sander is the combined movement of its sanding spindle. The spindle rotates at 1400 rpm while performing 30 oscillations per minute.

The vertical oscillation stroke is 25 mm. This movement allows a larger area of the sanding sleeve to be used than with a spindle that remains at a fixed height.

The oscillating action therefore helps distribute wear over the sanding sleeve while providing smooth and consistent sanding of the workpiece.

5 spindle diameters for different shapes and curves

The JET JBOS-5 is supplied with several sanding spindles and sleeves, allowing the operator to select a diameter suited to the radius or shape of the workpiece.

The machine is supplied with the following spindle diameters:

• 6 mm
• 12 mm
• 16 mm
• 38 mm
• 50 mm

This range of diameters makes it possible to work on both relatively tight curves and larger rounded profiles.

The sanding sleeves can be up to 150 mm long, according to the JET manual.

370 x 370 mm worktable tiltable up to 45°

The JET JBOS-5 oscillating spindle sander features a 370 x 370 mm worktable, providing a comfortable support surface for holding and guiding workpieces during sanding.

The table can be tilted from 0 to 45°, making it possible to sand edges and profiles at angles other than 90°.

JET also supplies table inserts for different working configurations: 2 round inserts and 2 oblong inserts. The oblong inserts are particularly useful when operating the machine with the table tilted.

0.37 kW 230 V motor

The JET JBOS-5 operates from a single-phase 230 V / 50 Hz power supply. It is equipped with a motor providing an output power of 0.37 kW (0.5 HP).

The spindle speed reaches 1400 rpm, combined with an oscillating movement of 30 cycles per minute.

This configuration makes the machine particularly suitable for sanding and finishing curved edges and shaped wooden workpieces.

Ø 100 mm dust extraction connection

Sanding naturally produces a significant amount of fine dust. The JET JBOS-5 is therefore equipped with a Ø 100 mm dust extraction port, allowing the machine to be connected to a suitable dust extraction system.

The JET manual specifies a required extraction capacity of 560 m³/h at an air velocity of 20 m/s.

Connecting the sander to a suitable dust extraction system helps reduce dust accumulation around the working area and contributes to keeping the workshop cleaner.

Ideal for sanding curved workpieces

Unlike a belt or disc sander, an oscillating spindle sander provides easy access to concave profiles and internal curves.
