Main function
The piston rings for 51.7 cm³ garden tools and earth augers – Ref. 5904704006 are fitted into the piston grooves and primarily ensure a proper seal between the piston and the cylinder wall.
They help maintain good engine compression, limit the passage of combustion gases and contribute to the proper operation of the piston-cylinder assembly.
Piston rings in good condition are essential to ensure reliable starting, optimum engine power and consistent machine performance.
When should the piston rings be replaced?
The piston rings for 51.7 cm³ garden tools and earth augers – Ref. 5904704006 may need to be replaced in the following cases:
- Piston rings are broken, cracked or deformed
- Piston rings are heavily worn or show signs of seizure
- Loss of engine compression
- Engine has become difficult to start despite correct ignition and carburetion
- Noticeable loss of engine power
- Irregular engine operation
- Excessive play between the piston rings and piston grooves
- Wear detected when dismantling the engine
When replacing the piston rings, it is recommended to also check the condition of the piston and cylinder. A scratched or heavily worn cylinder may prevent new piston rings from providing proper sealing and engine compression.
