• Significant loss of engine compression
• Excessive clearance between the piston and cylinder
• Very difficult starting despite correct ignition and carburetion
• Significant loss of power during operation
• Overheating or engine seizure has damaged the cylinder
• Damage found when removing the piston

When replacing the cylinder, it is recommended to also check the condition of the piston, piston rings, piston pin and connecting rod.

A deeply scored or deformed cylinder must be replaced, as the piston rings can no longer provide the sealing and compression required for proper engine operation.
