The Holzmann PB80N 230V is a semi-automatic sharpening machine specially designed for maintaining and resharpening bandsaw blades. It is an ideal solution for users who want to maintain their blades rather than systematically replacing them as soon as their cutting performance begins to decrease.
This machine is particularly suitable for sharpening blades used on woodworking bandsaws and log band saws / sawmills. Its semi-automatic operation facilitates the successive movement of the teeth in front of the grinding wheel and provides more consistent results than fully manual sharpening.
The PB80N features two separate motors: a 250 W grinding wheel motor and an 80 W feed motor. The feed speed can be adjusted directly from the control panel. The machine also features grinding depth adjustment, feed position adjustment and bandsaw blade height adjustment.
One of the main advantages of the Holzmann PB80N bandsaw blade sharpener is its ability to handle a wide range of blade dimensions.
It accepts bandsaw blades from 2000 to 5000 mm in length, with a blade height ranging from 15 to 50 mm. The maximum permissible blade thickness is 2 mm.
The machine is designed for a tooth pitch ranging from 8 to 30 mm. Its adjustable tilt range of 0 to 40° allows the machine to be adapted to different tooth geometries. These capacities make the PB80N suitable for maintaining blades used on woodworking bandsaws as well as certain sawmill and log band saw blades.
Unlike manual tooth-by-tooth sharpening, the PB80N features a motorised blade feed system. Once the machine has been correctly adjusted to the blade tooth profile, the mechanism moves the blade progressively through the sharpening process.
The control panel includes separate feed ON/OFF controls, an adjustable feed speed controller and a separate ON/OFF switch for the grinding wheel.
This design makes the sharpening process more consistent and is particularly useful when maintaining several blades, especially for users of bandsaws, log band saws and small sawmill equipment.
Bandsaw blades are continuously subjected to significant mechanical stress during operation. Repeated bending can gradually cause small cracks to develop at the base of the teeth. Regular sharpening therefore helps maintain the original tooth geometry and reduces the risk of excessive blade deterioration.
Proper maintenance can also extend the service life of a quality bandsaw blade. High-quality blades with a consistent tooth pitch can generally be resharpened more often than lower-grade carbon steel blades.
The Holzmann PB80N is supplied with its own metal stand. The working height is 790 mm, allowing the machine to be installed as an independent blade sharpening station in the workshop.
Several supports are provided to hold and guide the large loop formed by the bandsaw blade during sharpening. The delivery includes the sharpening unit, grinding wheel, stand components, three support rods with sliding sleeves, wrench set and grinding depth adjustment screw.
